Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua surprised George Gacheru, a Kenyan who owns a restaurant in Rwanda, during his maiden foreign trip.
Gacheru confirmed that the second in command, accompanied by a host of other Kenyan leaders, visited his restaurant, Georgies Grill, in Kigali on Thursday, October 13.
Gachagua celebrated Gacheru's achievements in Rwanda and his contribution to flying high the Kenyan flag.
His Journey From A Waiter to Hotel Owner
Gacheru narrated that he moved to Rwanda 10 years ago, where he started off as a waiter in one of the hotels in that country.
After gaining commensurate experience and raising funds, the entrepreneur opened Georgies Grill, where he not only earns income but also creates employment.
His barbecue restaurant located in Kigali specialises in African cuisines and is one of the most sought-after joints by Kenyans visiting President Paul Kagame's country.
According to its menu, Georgies restaurant serves grilled chicken, smoked fish, Ugali, pickles and different local African drinks.
"This is the best and only nyama choma place for Kenyans," Gacheru said.
He attributed his entrepreneurial success to support from the Rwandan government and nationals, who he maintained were supportive of his venture.
On the hand, Gachagua lauded the entrepreneur for setting and example in Rwanda. He further asked Kenyans to work hard and respect the laws of the land.
"President Paul Kagame is happy with the presence of Kenyans in Rwanda. He has encouraged Kenyans to continue doing business in Rwanda, and I am asking you to do so while being good ambassadors for us, " Gachagua stated.
Gachagua, who made his maiden trip to attend the youth summit, added that Ruto's administration was formulating an investment system where the government would create securities designed for those in the diaspora.
