President William Ruto is not bothered despite a series of controversial social media statements made by Lieutenant General Muhoozi Kainerugaba, son of Uganda's President Yoweri Museveni, on Monday, October 3.

Foreign affairs experts say that the President is not in any dilemma, whatsoever regarding his diplomatic relations with Uganda and his close ties with Museveni.

Foreign affairs analyst John Gachie dismissed Muhoozi's sentiments of staging a military takeover of Nairobi, arguing that his sentiments cannot trigger any diplomatic brawl.

Gachie, however, expressed concerns about how Muhoozi, who is the commander of the land forces of the Uganda People's Defence Force (UPDF) could utter such reckless and controversial remarks.

"It is not in the interest of Uganda nor Kenya to engage in any form of a scramble. The two countries are friendly states which fully depend on one another for trade and other partnerships."

"I would like to imagine that Ruto will be given specific advice on Muhoozi's sentiments. But I think the Twitter warriors are trying to get something that does not exist," John Kagucia insisted.

Muhoozi insinuated that Uganda is anchored on revolution and not the rule of law while defending his advice to former President Uhuru Kenyatta, who he opined should have breached the constitution to vie for the third time.

"My only problem with my beloved big brother is that he didn't stand for a third term. We would have won easily," Muhoozi stated.

He later tweeted about how he can capture Nairobi within two weeks, but later apologised after an uproar.

However, Gachie and foreign affairs expert, Andrew Limo, dismissed Muhoozi maintaining that Ruto would only treat his comments as rumours.

"That is a joke that cannot be taken seriously. It cannot trigger any brawl.  He is always tweeting about such things. So this is not different," Limo stated.

Other analysts slammed Muhoozi as a Twitter-happy general who has a history of making controversial posts. A case cited was when he claimed that Uganda supports the revolution in Tigray, a claim Museveni opposed.

Ruto and Museveni enjoy close ties with the latter making the keynote speech at his inauguration at Kasarani Stadium on Tuesday, September 13.

Speaking the inauguration ceremony, Museveni expressed confidence that Ruto will honour his campaign pledges.

"Don't involve me in your internal affairs," Museveni distanced himself from the Ruto-ex-president Uhuru Kenyatta row while committing to strengthen ties with Kenya  distancing himself away from the

Before he was elected the head of state, Ruto and Museveni's dalliance raised eyebrows. In July 2021, Museveni invited Kenya's head of state to attend the unveiling of a vaccine manufacturing facility in the Matuga-Wakiso district. Ruto, however, was reportedly blocked from flying out of the country.

In 2015, Ruto openly campaigned for Museveni's re-election, which drew protests from opposition leader Kizza Besigye.
