Police officers have uncovered CCTV footage that revealed the final moments of the missing Embakasi East Returning Officer, Daniel Musyoka, before he disappeared on Thursday, August 11.

According to a report by media, the police intimated that Musyoka walked out of the tallying centre and headed to a nearby bus stop.

The officer, who is privy to the matter, added that Musyoka seemed at ease with no signs of distress.

Police further established that Musyoka did not receive or make any calls as indicated in preliminary reports.

Upon further scrutiny, the officer affirmed that Musyoka was not being trailed by any vehicle or person.

Past reports had indicated that the IEBC official had excused himself in order to pick up a phone call before he mysteriously vanished.

The police called upon any person with information on his whereabouts to report to the nearest station.

Musyoka has been a person of interest after he mysteriously vanished on Thursday, August 11. The report broke after IEBC chair, Wafula Chebukati, raised an alarm.

“The Returning Officer has been reported missing from the Embakasi tallying center. Reports received by the Commission indicated that at around 9am yesterday, he was escorted to the tallying center by his bodyguard.

“At around 9:45am, he excused himself to make a phone call but did not return to the office,” Chebukati stated on Friday, August 12.

Musyoka’s family also called on Kenyans to aid in finding their kin, noting that they have visited various hospitals and morgues but could not trace him.

Tabitha Mbolu, Musyoka’s wife, pointed out that her final conversation with her husband did not reveal any signs that he faced any challenges at work.

“We usually spoke before he left for work and when he returned in the evening. I last spoke to him at midday on Wednesday.

“He admitted that the work was a lot, but assured me that he would come home as soon as he was done. He did not tell me that he had any issues at work,” Tabitha narrated.

She further revealed that efforts to reach him on phone have since been futile.

“We have looked for him in all the places he could possibly be – from hospitals, pharmacies and even the mortuary- but to no avail. We ask anyone who is privy to his whereabouts to come forth with the information,” she stated.
