Langata Member of Parliament Nixon Korir on Wednesday, August 10, conceded defeat after losing his re-election bid.
Korir, who was contesting on a UDA ticket, told his constituents that he was grateful to the people Lang’ata, who allowed him to serve them for 5 years.
He also congratulated ODM candidate Felix Odiwuor, popularly known as Jalang’o for being the projected winner. “I sincerely thank you for according me an opportunity to be your Member of Parliament for the last 5 years. Its been a great opportunity that gave me an avenue to contribute to our nation-building and service to the people,” the former aide to Deputy President William Ruto stated.
Korir stated that from the results he had received that we have tallied at the Generali Centre, his competitor Jalango had an early lead.
“My competitor Jalango has a lead and I want to congratulate him as he prepares to take the mantle and move Langata forward. Siasa si chuki. God bless Langata,” he remarked.
The MP had on Tuesday exuded confidence in retaining his seat in the ongoing General Election.
Speaking after casting his vote at the Lang’ata Road Primary School, Korir expressed confidence in the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) delivering a credible election.
“According to the voters’ turnout and the campaign, definitely we are winning. But I can see the town is a little bit slower, maybe because it was a little bit cold in the morning.
“I can see it is now picking and we hope that it will continue that way. I am yet to look at the actual numbers in terms of the voter turnout,” he stated.
