Edna Awuor Otieno, purportedly the former partner of the late athlete Kelvin Kiptum, has unveiled fresh details surrounding their alleged relationship, shedding light on her interactions with Kiptum's family and his wife, Asenath Rotich.
Ms. Otieno disclosed that their relationship commenced in 2019, predating Kiptum's meteoric rise in the athletic realm. She emphasized Kiptum's active involvement in their child's life, noting his presence until his professional commitments, such as the Chicago marathon, necessitated his absence.
The narrative delved into the origins of their bond, tracing back to their meeting during Edna's high school years and the subsequent deepening of their relationship post-graduation. Despite initial familial reservations regarding their living arrangements, both families eventually acknowledged the situation, with Kiptum's parents becoming aware of their grandchild.
Edna clarified her decision not to reside with Kiptum after childbirth, citing her mother's support in raising their child. Notably, she revealed an amicable rapport with Kiptum's wife, Asenath Rotich, recounting instances of communication during Kiptum's unavailability.
Regarding Kiptum's tragic demise, Edna shared her harrowing experience of learning about the accident, expressing shock and grief upon receiving the news. Despite her assertions of Kiptum's purported intentions to marry her and the resemblance between their daughter and him, her attempts to halt Kiptum's burial were dismissed by the court.
In a poignant recollection, Edna reminisced about Kiptum's final moments with their child, depicting a tender interaction mere weeks before his untimely death.
