In a bid to foster digital talent development on a global scale, Huawei announced several groundbreaking initiatives during the Huawei Talent Summit, held at MWC Barcelona 2024. This pivotal event saw the unveiling of strategic collaborations aimed at nurturing excellence in a digital world under the theme "I C Talent."
One of the key announcements was the launch of the applications for the global ITU-Huawei Generation Connect Young Leadership Programme. Mr. Mario Maniewicz, Director of the ITU’s Radiocommunication Bureau, in lieu of Dr. Cosmas Zavazava, Director of the ITU’s Telecommunication Development Bureau, introduced this program. Youth aged 18 to 28 are encouraged to submit their community project ideas addressing the digital divide, with the promise of funding, mentoring, and training for implementation.
Moreover, Huawei disclosed its partnership with UNESCO's Institute for Lifelong Learning (UIL), highlighting a joint project's implementation in Morocco. UIL Director Isabell Kempf emphasized the significance of empowering educators and improving digital skills, particularly in literacy teaching. With Huawei's support, this initiative aims to benefit 10,000 youth and adult literacy teachers, trainers, and managers.
In a move to promote gender diversity in the technology sector, Huawei announced its sponsorship of the European Girls' Olympiad in Informatics (EGOI) 2024. This sponsorship underscores Huawei's commitment to encouraging more girls to pursue careers in STEM fields and enhancing digital inclusion in communities.
During the Women Leaders' Roundtable, speakers from various countries shared their experiences with Huawei's local talent training programs, highlighting the company's dedication to fostering global partnerships. Duan Xiaolei, General Manager of Huawei Cloud's Global Startup Ecosystem, unveiled plans to launch Huawei Cloud's enablement platform in Europe, aimed at assisting start-ups in migrating to the cloud and accessing agile innovation.
Vicky Zhang, Vice President of Huawei's Corporate Communications Dept, expressed Huawei's longstanding commitment to cultivating digital talent worldwide. She emphasized the importance of joint projects with partners and encouraged broader participation to shape an inclusive digital future.
The summit also saw the release of a digital badge for the Huawei ICT Academy, enabling teachers and students to showcase their achievements on platforms like LinkedIn.
Huawei's talent training and education projects, spanning over 150 countries, have already benefited more than 2.83 million individuals, reflecting the company's unwavering dedication to driving digital transformation on a global scale.
