Youth Invade Uhuru's Narok Ranch, Police Act Swiftly

Police, on Thursday, March 30, repulsed unknown individuals attempting to raid Kedong Ranch associated with former President Uhuru Kenyatta at the border of Narok East.

According to reports, police patrolled the area before they spotted armed youth breaching the security fence to trespass into the ranch.

Tear gas canisters were lobbed to disperse the rowdy youths.

"We received reports that some members of the youth from the neighbouring community planned to invade the more than 75,000-acre expansive land and destroy property. We deployed anti-riot officers from 6am," County Commissioner Isaac Masinde stated.

"Police thwarted the attempt by the youths to invade the land," he added.

No casualties were reported following the attempted raid on Kedong Ranch.

Preliminary reports also indicated that no property was destroyed during the attempted raid on former President Uhuru's ranch.

By the time of this publication, the area law enforcement officers had not issued a conclusive report regarding the attempted raid on Uhuru's ranch.

However, the area security officers pledged to remain alert following countrywide anti-government protests announced by Azimio leader Raila Odinga.

On Monday, March 27, rowdy youths raided the Northlands farm associated with Uhuru's family. The unidentified individuals looted sheep and other property on the farm.

Responding to the raid, Interior Cabinet Secretary Kithure Kindiki stated that Azimio's protests curtailed police efforts to respond promptly.

"While the quick action of the police and private security guards repulsed the Industrial Area criminals, action to protect the Ruiru property was not as quick owing to operational constraint
s caused by the protests that were taking place," the CS explained.
