Police Impostors Trick DCI Cop, Shoot Him Outside His Nairobi Home

A forensic expert from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) Forensic Fingerprint Identification Bureau was shot by thus impersonating police officers at his home on Friday morning, January 6.

According to DCI, the cop was rushed to the Kenyatta University Teaching and Referral Hospital after being attacked by the armed gangsters at Kahawa West, in Nairobi.

The four-man gang waylaid him as he was heading home from a party at Roysambu alongside his wife.

They reportedly followed him to his gate after stopping him along Kamiti Road near Jacaranda estate for a false routine police check.

Additionally, the detective unknowingly interacted with the thugs informing them that he was heading home not far away from the 'roadblock'.

After passing the roadblock, they trailed him to his home and shot him outside the gate.

After the attack, his wife rushed him to the hospital where he was placed in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) in critical condition.

DCI noted that sleuths from three specialised units were dispatched to hunt down the culprits.

"The Director of Criminal Investigations Mohamed Amin wishes the detective a speedy recovery and sends his loved ones lots of love from the DCI family, following the unfortunate incident," DCI stated.

DCI declared that through the team of highly trained detectives, it was only a matter of time before the thugs were apprehended.

In August 2022, a thug was killed after he reportedly tried to rob an undercover detective outside a mosque in Nairobi.

The two thugs were on a motorbike while attempting to steal valuables from the detective. Luckily, the detective escaped death by a whisker after one of the thugs shot at him.
