The late former Prime Minister Raila Odinga will be laid to rest on Sunday, October 19, in accordance with his wishes to be buried within 72 hours of his death.
Deputy President Kithure Kindiki, who chairs the National Funeral Committee, confirmed the burial plans during a State Address on Wednesday, October 15.
“We have been advised by the family that it was Raila Odinga’s wish to be buried as soon as possible. The family has indicated a 72-hour timeline,” Kindiki said.
Although the 72-hour period officially ends on Saturday, the Deputy President noted that the timeline had to be slightly adjusted due to logistical challenges, including international repatriation from India.
