President William Ruto earned a prestigious accolade on Wednesday as TIME Magazine named him one of the 100 most influential individuals worldwide.

The Head of State shares this honor with another Kenyan, Kennedy Odede, renowned philanthropist and CEO of Shining Hope for Communities (SHOFCO).

The list also features several other notable Africans who have significantly impacted humanity across various domains, including afrobeats sensation Burna Boy.

This isn't Ruto's first brush with global recognition; last year, he was lauded by TIME for his efforts in combating climate change.

TIME's CEO Jessica Sibley emphasized the diverse influence represented in this year's TIME100 list, spanning industries and continents. The honorees will convene at the TIME100 Summit on April 24 in New York City for a day of discussions and celebrations.

The selection process for the TIME100 involves meticulous deliberations over several months, focusing on individuals who have left a profound mark on society in the past year.

In November, Ruto was previously recognized as one of the global leaders driving significant change in the fight against climate change. His initiatives, including hosting the inaugural Africa Climate Summit, contributed to this acknowledgment.

In response to the recognition, Ruto reiterated the importance of the climate change discourse for Kenya and Africa as a whole, emphasizing its relevance to both the present and future of the continent.
