A somber and solemn atmosphere engulfed the Kisii Teaching and Referral Hospital morgue as family members of former Treasury staff, Tom Osinde, gathered to view his body.
Tom Osinde, who was the brother of the late Chief of Staff at the Office of the Deputy President, Ken Osinde, was discovered in a decomposed state after being recovered from River Kuja in Kamagambo, Migori, on Thursday morning.
The family, including one of his sons, was present at the morgue but declined to engage with journalists.
"There will be no media briefing," stated a family member, indicating that the decision was made collectively.
As the van carrying the body approached, a pungent smell permeated the air, a clear sign that the body had deteriorated.
Osinde had gone missing on June 18, and his body was eventually found in the Kamagambo area of Rongo Sub-County, Migori County, on June 22.
A family member positively identified the body on the evening of Wednesday, June 28, as confirmed by Migori Commander Peter Kimani.
