The body of Tom Osinde, a former National Treasury official who had been reported missing since Sunday, June 18, has been discovered in River Kuja, Migori County.

The police informed Osinde's family about the grim discovery on the morning of Thursday, June 29, following an extensive search that lasted over a week. As of the time of publishing this piece, the family was on their way to the scene.

Law enforcement authorities confirmed that Osinde's body was already in an advanced stage of decomposition when it was found.

Earlier, in an interview, a farmhand employed by Osinde revealed that the deceased had shown no signs of distress before he went missing. According to the farmhand, Osinde instructed him to meet an unidentified woman before he embarked on his trip from Nakuru to Kisii. However, Osinde never returned.

"He sent me to a specific location without disclosing the identity of the woman. The woman was supposed to recognize me based on how I was dressed. Before I left, he had a phone conversation with the woman. Following his instructions, I went to the petrol station, and the woman easily identified me," the farmhand stated, adding that he delivered the money as instructed.

During a press conference on Saturday, June 24, Osinde's family revealed that his car was discovered vandalized and abandoned in Kilgoris, Transmara West. The last contact they had with him was on Friday, June 23, when he left home in the car.

Osinde, a financial expert, held a Degree in Economics from the University of Nairobi and had previously worked in the Ministry of Finance. He resigned from his position in the department in 2010 to focus on managing his private business. He lived peacefully at his Ngata Farm in Nakuru.

According to his family, Osinde was known for his support of various charitable organizations. They described him as a kind and generous man who was beloved by both family and friends.

The discovery of Osinde's body has brought a tragic end to the search efforts, leaving his loved ones in mourning and raising questions about the circumstances surrounding his disappearance and demise. Authorities are expected to conduct a thorough investigation to shed light on the matter.
