Speaker of the National Assembly Moses Wetangula on Thursday ejected two Azimio MPs from Parliament after they disrupted proceedings.
The MPs, Suba North MP Millie Odhiambo and Kisumu West MP Rozah Buyu, were kicked out of the House after they refused to leave the chamber following a ruling by Wetangula on the ouster of Nominated MP Sabina Chege as the Deputy Minority Whip.
Wetangula had ruled that Chege could not be removed from her position as she had filed a petition in court challenging her removal.
The Azimio MPs, however, objected to the ruling and demanded that Chege be removed from her position.
When Wetangula ordered them to leave the chamber, they refused and continued to disrupt proceedings.
Wetangula then ordered the Sergeant-at-Arms to eject the two MPs from the House.
The two MPs were later escorted out of the House by the Sergeant-at-Arms.
The chaos in Parliament came after Azimio had communicated to Wetangula to replace Chege with her Embakasi West MP counterpart, Mark Mwenje.
The Raila Odinga-led faction effected the changes after Chege pledged allegiance to the Kenya Kwanza Alliance.
The development has further deepened the divisions in Parliament, which has been rocked by a series of walkouts and disruptions in recent months.
It remains to be seen how the latest chaos will impact the work of Parliament, which is currently in the process of debating the 2023/2024 budget.
