Here Are the Top KCSE 2022 Candidates [LIST]

Shortly after Education Cabinet Secretary Ezekiel Machogu formally released the 2022 KCSE results on Friday, January 20, the list of top students who aced the test have began going public.

Njagi Ronnie Gathuku, a student from Alliance High School, was among the top candidates after scoring a straight A of 84 points. 

Gathuku scored straight As in all seven subjects, as revealed by  Alliance High School. 

Alliance Girls School also confirmed that its former captain, Amy Jemutai, also scored an A of 84 points, with straight As in all subjects.

The two candidates are among a total 1,146 candidates that scored grade A in the test.

Other top performers were Roberto Carlos of Mbita High School who scored an A of 84 points, Kairu Vincent Kinyua of Mang'u High School, Shawn Mishel Ngweno of Maseno High School, Samie David Santet of Mang'u High School and Koech Vic of Alliance High School. They all scored straight As of 84 points. 

Alliance High School revealed that the institution recorded five As of 84 points while a number of students got As of various points. 

In a report that was released at the Kenya National Examinations Council headquarters along Dennis Pritt Road, Education Cabinet Secretary noted that a total of 489,081 candidates scored Grade D plus and below.

The candidates who scored D plus and below make up 55.8 per cent of the total 881,416 students who sat the KCSE 2022 examination.

In particular, Machogu noted that 167,758 candidates scored D minus while candidates who scored D was 155,480, and a total of 135,021 candidates scored D plus.

National Examination Council (KNEC) Chief Executive Officers David Njeng'ere directed all schools to register the 2023 KCSE and KCPE candidates by March 31. 

Speaking during the release of the 2022 KCSE results, Njang're announced that the registration portal would be opened on February 1.
