Uganda President Yoweri Museveni's son, General Muhoozi Kainerugaba on Thursday, January 12 clarified his remarks on taking over Nairobi in two weeks stating that it was all but a joke.

In what seemed to be a crafted regrettable apology, Muhoozi was surprised that while most people saw the joke in his words, others took it seriously.

Nevertheless, he told his followers that the truth will always win.

"Three months ago, I made a 'joke' about taking over Nairobi in two weeks,

Now any Tom, Dick or Harry immediately saw it for what it was...'a joke',

But unfortunately for some, it was not. Either way, the truth shall win! The East African Federation shall be realised," he stated.

In October 2022, Muhoozi claimed that it would take him, and his army less than two weeks to take control of Nairobi..

In a series of tweets, Muhoozi made the statement in what many believed to be an apparent show of strength he and his army possess.

"It wouldn't take us, my army and me, two weeks to capture Nairobi," he stated.

Muhoozi, who was also the Commander of the Uganda army, additionally lamented that former President Uhuru Kenyatta would have won if he stood for a third time.

"My only problem with my beloved big brother is that he didn't stand for a third term. We would have won easily," Muhoozi stated in a series of tweets.

Uganda's President Kaguta Museveni was forced to apologise to Kenyans, owing to the cordial relationship the two neighbouring countries enjoy.

Museveni issued a public apology, asking for forgiveness for tweets by his son, Muhoozi.

In his statement, Museveni apologized for what he called meddling in the affairs of brother Kenya.

“I ask our Kenyan brothers and sisters to forgive us for tweets sent by General Muhoozi, former commander of land forces here, regarding the election matters in that great country,” read part of the statement.

Museveni held that it was not right for public officers, be they civilian or military, to comment or interfere in any way in the internal affairs of brother countries.

Muhoozi remarks on Kenya saw Museveni promote him to a general while removing him as commander of the army’s land forces.
