CCTV footage produced as evidence in court detailed how three armed men ambushed the late Kilifi deputy governor, Kenneth Kamto's, home in Nyali.
On Thursday, October 27, detectives analysing the footage stated that the men waylaid the late politician as he drove into his house at 2 pm.
The incident occurred on December 12, 2018.
Detectives claimed that the suspects jumped over the fence and shot the politician before they left the house minutes later.
After analysing the video, forensic, imaging, and acoustic analyst, Beneutychus Wanjohi, noted that the three men were holding luggage in their hands.
"One of them walked towards the gate and threw something out," he told the court.
Additionally, State counsel Ngina Mutua told the court that he had a compilation of 26 photographs and two compact discs (CDs) from the footage.
“I have prepared two reports from the footage. The photographs also include those taken from the deceased compound after we did a search," Mutua stated.
Appearing before the court on Monday, August 16, 2021, a witness narrated to the court how the murder was planned and executed.
The killers reportedly initially planned a burglary before it turned into murder.
"We scaled the wall and took up positions inside his compound. He was on a call as he left his car.
"After some confrontation, we attacked him and ransacked the house. At this time, he had already been shot," a suspect turned witness confessed.
The witness was one of the suspects who struck a deal with the government to get a lesser sentence.
