A university student arrested by homicide detectives for being implicated in the killing of Christine Ambani rushed to Facebook to mourn her.
Innocent Kalio, a Mount Kenya University student, took to the social network on Friday, July 16, sorrowfully saying the demise of Ambani had hit him hard. He further rebuked the killers of his suspected lover, saying they would never have peace in life.
“This is more than worse to me. Rest easy my close person. They’ll never have peace,” wrote Kalio.
In a subsequent post on Sunday, July 25, Kalio advised his Facebook friends never to be prisoners of their past but take it as a lesson.
“Never be a prisoner of your past. It was just a lesson, not a life sentence,” he said.
The late Ambani, who was studying at Kiriri Women’s University of Science and Technology in Mwihoko, was found murdered inside a guest house in Githurai, Kiambu county, on Tuesday, July 12.
An autopsy conducted on her body established she was stabbed in the chest, leading to excessive bleeding, which later caused her death.
Kalio’s arrest
On Tuesday, July 27, the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) detectives pounced on Kalio at the Chokaa area within Kayole.
On the day of her death, the DCI team said Ambani had left the university in the morning to meet him in the Githurai area.
Booked a guesthouse
The two lovers booked themselves into a guest house, hoping to spend few hours so that Ambani could sit continuous assessment tests later that afternoon.
However, the guest house management confirmed the two students changed their minds to spend the entire night. During the night, the detectives suspect he allegedly knifed his lover before he logged into her family WhatsApp group, where he asked for money from relatives.
