Controversial preacher Victor Kanyari has made headlines with his unexpected debut on TikTok, a move he claims is driven by a desire to reach out and save lives, rather than for financial gain.
In an interview with the media, Kanyari, known for his Salvation Healing Ministry, emphasized that his primary goal on TikTok is to offer guidance and support to the younger generation, particularly those struggling with issues like drug addiction.
"I joined TikTok because I noticed that it is mostly the younger generation, and I wanted to reach out and save some lives. There are a lot of tragedies, and I think we can make a difference," he explained.
Despite facing a barrage of criticism and hate online, Kanyari remains undeterred, stating that he has developed a thick skin to withstand negativity.
"No pastor has faced as much criticism as I have. I won’t let trolls stop me from doing what I want. I’ve become immune to the negativity and hate," he asserted.
While Kanyari downplays the financial aspect of his TikTok presence, he acknowledges receiving gifts from supporters, mainly from Kenyans living abroad. However, he insists that his focus is on offering spiritual guidance rather than monetary gain.
Despite facing criticism from some quarters, Kanyari remains unapologetic about his presence on TikTok, even openly appealing for gifts from a mysterious giver known as King Roso, albeit in a tongue-in-cheek manner.
However, his foray into TikTok hasn't been without its challenges. Kanyari admits to receiving romantic interest from both men and women on the platform, including unsolicited explicit content.
Despite the skepticism surrounding his motives, Kanyari remains committed to leveraging TikTok as a platform for spreading his message, blending traditional preaching styles with modern mediums.
While his presence on TikTok continues to spark debate, Kanyari remains convinced that his audience seeks blessings and prayers through their interactions on the platform, and he is determined to provide them with guidance and support, regardless of the platform's unconventional nature.
