The funeral arrangements for the late NTV journalist, Rita Tinina, have been finalized, with her interment scheduled for Wednesday, March 27, 2024, in Narok County.

This announcement was made through a WhatsApp group created by her family and friends.

A requiem mass is scheduled for Monday, March 25, 2024, with the venue to be announced.

Rita Tinina was discovered deceased at her residence in Brooklyn Springs Apartments, Kileleshwa, Nairobi, on Sunday, March 17. Concern arose among her colleagues at NTV when she failed to report for duty to prepare for the 1 pm bulletin.

An autopsy conducted on Tuesday, March 19, revealed that Rita succumbed to severe pneumonia.

Speaking on behalf of the family at Umash Funeral Home, spokesperson Timothy Njaga expressed satisfaction with the autopsy results, confirming the cause of death.

"We came here to witness the post-mortem conducted by Dr. Ndegwa and the family pathologist. We were given the results that the late Rita died of severe pneumonia," Njaga stated.

Njaga also appealed for privacy and respect for the grieving family during this challenging time.

"We should remember that there is a family that is affected," Njaga urged.

Meetings will be held at All Saints Cathedral from 5:30 pm today, with further details on funeral plans to be announced later.

Rita, aged 46, is survived by her nine-year-old daughter.

She rejoined NTV in October 2023 after serving as a senior reporter at Standard Group's KTN.

Nation Media Editor-in-Chief Joe Ageyo paid tribute to Rita Tinina in a heartfelt condolence message on Monday, March 18, 2024, reminiscing about their warm memories as friends and colleagues.

Describing Rita as a gentle giant, Ageyo disclosed that she was set to make her television debut in October 2023 after rejoining NMG.

"This week, Rita was due to complete a special report that would have marked her on-air debut since rejoining NMG in October last year. She had also offered to help me put together a story I was working on," Ageyo revealed.

May her soul rest in peace.
