Wife of Businessman Who Plunged Into Kiambu Dam Reveals Last Phone Call

The woman who drowned alongside a man after their vehicle plunged into Juja dam was not his wife.

Speaking to the press on Thursday, January 19, Margaret Kiiru confirmed the identity of her husband and recounted the last conversation they had.

Kiiru stated that she last spoke to her husband on phone at 7p.m. the night when his vehicle plunged into the water reservoir.

“My husband told me that he was in Juja for a business meeting. I asked what he would want to have for dinner," Kiiru told Citizen TV.

However, later attempts to reach the deceased were futile as her messages went unanswered. That, to her, was a red flag since he always responded.

She tried to call him but the man was unreachable on phone. A phone call from one of her husband's friends the following day confirmed her worst fear - he had been found dead.

Kiiru rushed to City Mortuary and confirmed his demise. However, she could not give a positive identification of the woman who was found with him and vehemently defended her husband.

“Although I do not know her, I believe the woman who was with my husband that night was a friend, he had so many friends because of the nature of his business,” she maintained.

The wife intimated that her husband was an entrepreneur dealing in engineering products.

Fresh details from witness accounts revealed that on the night the Nissan Xtrail plunged into Titanic Dam local residents heard two people cry for help.

First responders who rushed to the scene found the car partially submerged in water and owing to the dark of night, could not launch a rescue mission.

A team of divers recovered the two bodies and the car wreckage from the dam the following day. The vehicle's side mirror was damaged, the windows were partially opened and the front seats were laid back.
