A fatal road collision occurred on the Nakuru‑Eldoret Highway shortly before 5 am on Saturday when a matatu belonging to Kapsowar Sacco, travelling from Nakuru towards Eldoret, struck the rear of a truck that had stalled on the climbing lane.
Kuresoi North Sub‑County Police Commander John Kimutai confirmed that five occupants of the matatu were killed in the impact and that eight other passengers sustained injuries, with two victims classified as being in critical condition.
Police said they are conducting investigations to establish the exact cause of the truck's stalling and the circumstances that led to the matatu's collision, while emergency services attended the scene to provide medical assistance to the injured.
