More than 3.4 million learners across Kenya will sit for national examinations beginning Friday, 17 October, the Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) has announced.

Deployment of Invigilators and Supervisors

KNEC Chief Executive Officer David Njengere confirmed that the Council will deploy 54,782 invigilators and 12,126 supervisors to oversee this year’s Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) exams.

He added that 24,213 centre managers have also been assigned to manage the Kenya Primary School Education Assessment (KPSEA) and the Kenya Junior School Education Assessment (KJSEA).

“The field administration of the 2025 examinations and assessments is scheduled to start on Friday, October 17, and end on Friday, November 21,” Dr Njengere told reporters on Friday.

Record Numbers of Candidates

A total of 996,078 candidates have registered for KCSE. Meanwhile, 1,298,089 learners will sit for KPSEA.

This year also marks a milestone for the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC), as the inaugural KJSEA will be administered to 1,130,669 learners—the first group under the new system.

In total, 3,424,836 candidates will sit for the three examinations nationwide.

Exam Readiness and Cycle

Dr Njengere said preparations began earlier this year, with candidate registration taking place between 30 January and 30 March. He assured the public that measures have been put in place to ensure smooth delivery of the examinations.
