Lawyer-turned-activist Morara Kebaso was arrested on Monday following a police raid at his main office in Kahawa Sukari, Nairobi. His lawyer, who followed the police car to the Nairobi Regional Headquarters, revealed that access to Kebaso was strictly restricted.

"They have orders from the top not to allow anyone access to Morara, including lawyers, media personnel, and others," the lawyer told the press. He condemned the actions of the police, criticizing their disregard for the law. "The head is rotten all the way from the Minister of Interior down to the officers holding Morara. This should be condemned in the strongest terms."

The exact cause of Kebaso's arrest remains unclear, sparking widespread concern among Kenyans. Many took to social media, describing the incident as an abduction. Witnesses alleged that a Subaru Forester was involved in the arrest, with videos circulating online showing the vehicle along Thika Superhighway shortly after the incident.

Kebaso had spent the weekend in Bomet and Kericho counties conducting civic education rallies and highlighting stalled government projects in areas under the President's influence. Just an hour before his arrest, he posted a video on X (formerly Twitter) denouncing the abduction and torture of Mombasa-based blogger Bruce John.

In the video, Kebaso detailed Bruce's harrowing experience, recounting how he was abducted by 20 men who claimed to be taking him to apologize to the Mombasa Governor. Instead, he was tortured and sexually assaulted. Kebaso called for the arrest of the Governor, accusing him of being an accessory to the crime.

Kebaso’s last post on X read: "The Governor should be investigated and arrested. If it is not done, then I am ready to suspend all activities for a nationwide demonstration." Shortly after, he was arrested.
