CCTV footage emerged on Sunday night showing the abduction of activist Shadrack Kiprono by unknown assailants.

The video, recorded in Nairobi’s South B area, shows Kiprono walking through a shopping complex when he is suddenly accosted by a group of individuals who forcefully capture him. The assailants then bundle him into a white Prado, which drives off to an unknown destination.

The vehicle involved in Kiprono's abduction has reportedly been identified, with photos of the car circulating online following the late-night incident. However, details about Kiprono's whereabouts or the identities of his captors remain unknown.

The abduction has sparked outrage across social media platforms, with Kenyans demanding the release of the activist, who has been a vocal participant in the anti-finance bill protests. Kiprono recently appeared in an interview with Citizen TV, where he reiterated his opposition to the Finance Bill and encouraged protesters to take to the streets.

Kiprono's abduction is part of a disturbing pattern of disappearances targeting vocal youth involved in the protests. On Sunday, Dr. Austin Omondi, who was leading a blood donation drive in Nairobi to support protesters, was also abducted and held in custody for hours. He was released after the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Union threatened to shut down hospitals nationwide.

Similarly, social media influencer Billy Simani was abducted from his home on Friday evening and held in custody until Saturday evening. The Law Society of Kenya (LSK) intervened after receiving a tip-off, ultimately locating and securing Simani's release.

These incidents have heightened concerns about the safety of activists and protest leaders in Kenya, prompting widespread calls for accountability and the immediate release of those detained.
