Expect Isolated Heavy Rainfall in Nairobi and Other Parts of the Country, Says Weatherman

The Kenya Meteorological Department has forecasted continued rainfall in the Central Highlands, including Nairobi.

According to the forecast released for Thursday, May 16, 2024, the weatherman indicated that these rains would also extend to Western Kenya, parts of Northwestern regions, the Lake Victoria Basin, and the Rift Valley.

The department specified that these regions are likely to experience isolated heavy rainfall events.

"Expect continued rainfall in the Central Highlands (including Nairobi), Western Kenya, parts of Northwestern, the Lake Victoria Basin, and Rift Valley regions. Isolated heavy rainfall events are likely in these areas," the forecast reads.

Additionally, the weatherman mentioned that Machakos and Kajiado counties will have sporadic showers, while some parts of the country will remain dry.

Earlier, the meteorological department had stated there would be no severe flooding in the coming days, as the peak of the rainy season occurred in April.

"The peak of the rains was in April, so no severe flooding is likely. Occasional rain, however, is expected over Western Kenya, parts of the Rift Valley, Central Kenya, and the coastal strip. Game parks should generally be accessible. Enjoy your vacation!" the department announced.

In an update shared on Saturday, the weatherman noted that most regions would see sunny intervals, with a significant reduction in rainfall. However, occasional rains are expected in Western Kenya, the Rift Valley, Central Kenya, and the Lake Victoria Basin.

"Sunny intervals are expected across most parts of the country, with a significant reduction in rainfall likely across various regions.
