Nyayo Estate Assault Case: Woman Denies Death Threats

A woman caught in a viral video allegedly assaulting a female security guard amid accusations of an affair with her husband has denied issuing death threats during her court appearance at Makadara Law Courts.

Assault and Threat Charges

Ms. Alvin Ochieng, aged 34, faced charges of assault and making death threats against Ms. Miriam Sifuna. She was accused of unlawfully causing bodily harm to Ms. Sifuna, as well as uttering threats to kill her, both offenses punishable by law.

Incident Details

The incident in question took place on September 26, 2023, in Nyayo Estate, Embakasi, Nairobi. Ms. Ochieng allegedly confronted Ms. Sifuna, the security guard responsible for the residence where Ms. Ochieng resides. The confrontation reportedly revolved around accusations of an affair between Ms. Sifuna and Ms. Ochieng's husband.

Viral Video

The confrontation was captured on a viral video in which Ms. Ochieng is seen dragging the guard on the ground, demanding that she remove her uniform and leave the premises. The video also contains alleged threats to Ms. Sifuna's life, while bystanders recorded the incident.

Legal Proceedings

Ms. Sifuna reported the matter to the Embakasi police station the following day, leading to Ms. Ochieng's arrest. During her court appearance, Ms. Ochieng denied the charges and requested lenient bail and bond terms. She emphasized her fixed abode, known to the police.

Court Decision

Principal Magistrate Monica Kivuti of the Makadara Law Courts granted Ms. Ochieng bail in the amount of Sh30,000. The case is scheduled for mention on December 7, with the trial set to commence on June 26 next year.
