In a move celebrating Kenya's 60th Independence Day, Tourism Cabinet Secretary Alfred Mutua has declared free entry to all National Parks, marine parks, animal orphanages, and the Safari Walk for Kenyan citizens on Jamhuri Day.
In a statement released on Friday, CS Mutua expressed the government's pride in commemorating the 60th year of independence, inviting Kenyans to partake in the celebration by enjoying the country's natural treasures.
The free entry initiative, scheduled for December 12, 2023, will kick off at 6 am and conclude at 6 pm. To benefit from the offer, Kenyans are required to provide identification, with the rule also extending to children accompanied by their parents or guardians.
CS Mutua emphasized the importance of smooth operations during the free-entry period, urging visitors to comply with guidance from Kenya Wildlife Services (KWS) staff at entry points and within the premises. In the event of facilities reaching full capacity, he called for patience to allow for a smooth flow of visitors.
Further, CS Mutua encouraged county governors overseeing national reserves to consider implementing a similar waiver, fostering an opportunity for all Kenyan citizens to appreciate and enjoy the nation's shared heritage.
