Kabuchai MP Majimbo Kalasinga has urged President William Ruto to stop what he described as lecturing Kenya Kwanza MPs like small boys.

In a video seen by the media, Kalasinga said the Head of State should let the MPs debate independently on the Finance Bill and come up with a conclusion.

"Being in Kenya Kwanza does not mean having all the burden, the President should stop lecturing us on TV as small boys," he said.

The MP added that President Ruto should let legislators do their work of passing laws.

"We are not small boys, please!"

His remarks were in reference to the controversial Finance Bill, 2023 on which members of parliament took a vote Thursday evening after a long battle of debate.

The Bill sailed through at the second reading stage after 176 MPs voted to endorse its enactment while 81 opposition MPs voted to reject it.

On June 4, the President said that he will be watching the MPs who will vote against the bill

"I am waiting for the Members of Parliament who will go and vote against the employment of these young people, against housing that would give these people the chance to own a house with five per cent mortgage," he said.

He said the lawmakers had fewer mortgages because of the tax paid by the public.
