Transport, Roads, and Public Works Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen has unveiled the most expensive accessories in his wardrobe.
In an interview with Oga Obina on Monday, July 8, 2024, Murkomen detailed his priciest possessions, including neckpieces, shoes, watches, and belts.
He emphasized the importance of investing in high-quality items, noting their durability.
"My most expensive shoes must be Ksh70,000 or Ksh80,000. My belt is worth Ksh40,000 or Ksh50,000. The most expensive watch which I bought with my own money, if I can remember well, was about Ksh900,000. My tie is Ksh20,000," he disclosed.
The former senator explained his preference for an expensive reversible belt, stating that he only needs one belt every two years.
"I want to be honest with you, I don’t have to wear two belts in two years—one belt is enough. Buy one quality belt for Ksh50,000 that has two different colors; brown on one side and black on the other," Murkomen said.
Murkomen’s Dress Code
The CS shared that he balances his outfits by pairing one expensive accessory with more affordable clothing, highlighting the importance of being tactical in dressing.
"You don’t have to wear them all at once. Plan it out so the other items balance it out. When you wear an expensive watch, pair it with a suit that costs around Ksh20,000 or Ksh30,000," he advised.
Expensive Taste
Murkomen attributed his fondness for fine shoes and watches to his humble background. He clarified that he purchased these items with his own money.
"In life, there are things that are vanity. In fact, when I travel with my wife or come from church and pass by a shop, she always tells me not to look at the shoes. Even my sons tell me, 'Dad, don’t look that way,' because they know if I see a good pair of shoes, I might forget I was supposed to buy unga and end up buying the shoes," he said.
