Gospel DJ Karumba Ngatia, widely known as DJ Krowbar, has shared a deeply personal tribute to his late wife, Joyce Wanjiru Karumba, describing her as his anchor in faith and life.

Joyce passed away in the early hours of January 26, leaving her family, friends, and the gospel community in mourning. Since then, messages of support have poured in from fans and fellow ministers across the country.

Speaking in an emotional reflection, DJ Krowbar said he spent a sleepless night revisiting photos and videos from their time together. One clip, recorded in Cape Town shortly after their wedding anniversary, stood out.

In the video, Joyce is seen filming him as he worked on an academic assignment. Her words, he said, were filled with hope and reassurance during a difficult season.

“She was speaking into my life at a time when things were not easy,” Krowbar said. “She told me that even though the year had been tough, it was the best year we had ever had.”

He recalled how Joyce confidently told him he would complete his studies and that his education would change lives. Not long after their return home, Krowbar was recruited by an institution where he now teaches.

“My students are an answer to the words she spoke,” he said, linking his current work directly to his wife’s encouragement.

As he continues to process his loss, Krowbar said his faith remains his source of strength. He admitted the days ahead feel uncertain but said he is choosing hope.

“I’m going to miss this girl,” he said. “Yesterday I didn’t sleep. I kept going through the photos, the videos, everything.”

Looking ahead, he said he is trusting God to carry his family through what he called a new season.

“I don’t know how it will happen,” he added, “but I believe this will still be our best year yet. I pray for God’s grace over my family and our community.”

The tribute has resonated widely, with many describing it as a powerful reminder of love, faith, and the lasting impact of spoken encouragement.
