Former Citizen TV anchor, Willis Raburu, has announced his resignation as the Chairperson of the Nairobi Festival Committee, a position he took up in July earlier this year.
In a statement, the former host of "10 over 10" revealed that he had formally submitted his resignation to Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja, who had appointed him to the role.
"This morning, I have officially informed the leadership of the county that I will no longer be serving in my current capacity as Chair of the Nairobi Festival Committee," part of his statement read.
Raburu expressed gratitude for the trust and opportunity he had been given during his tenure, working alongside Governor Sakaja and his administration.
However, the media personality did not disclose the specific reasons behind his departure but mentioned that it was driven by a recognition of the need for systemic change to improve service delivery and leadership.
"It is clear that to better serve the county and its residents, a more comprehensive look at existing systems is essential, which, to be fair, have already been instituted, and I wish them all the best in this regard," he added.
Raburu stated his continued support for the county leadership while indicating that he will support the devolved government from a distance going forward.
"I firmly believe that with the right structural adjustments and a collective commitment to positive change, we can pave the way for a brighter future. My hope is that this decision will serve as a catalyst for the necessary transformation that our county deserves," he explained.
In his role as Chair of the Nairobi Festival Committee, Raburu had worked closely with Governor Sakaja, focusing extensively on youth programs.
Following his departure, Raburu will refocus his efforts on his job at TV47, where he hosts "Wabebe XP," a music magazine show he began presenting in August after leaving Citizen TV in June. During the announcement of his new role at TV47, Raburu expressed his excitement and commitment to the station's values of diversity, quality, and excellence, vowing to be part of their continued growth and success.
