Media personality Mark Masai has officially made his foray into acting, months after leaving mainstream media. Masai has landed a role as a detective in a new series titled "Faithless," set to be aired on Showmax.

In an interview with Kalondu Musimi, the former news anchor discussed his new role and how he entered the acting scene. While most people know him for his reporting days at Nation Media Group as a journalist, Masai is also an MC, voice-over artist, and PR practitioner.

Masai revealed that he began acting while still working as a journalist at Nation Media Group. He expressed his passion for acting and credited his connections in the industry for helping him pursue this interest.

"I trained as a journalist and was working in a newsroom, but I always had this passion for acting, and my good friends there connected me," explained Masai.

In the series, Masai portrays the character of Detective Henry. He shared that he was personally approached and invited to join the cast, a role he willingly accepted.

"They called, I answered, went for casting, and landed that role," Masai stated.

Masai noted that there are similarities between his role as a detective and his previous career as a journalist. Both involve seeking answers and uncovering the truth.

"As a detective, I am looking for answers, something that is relatable to my journalism career, which involves looking for answers," he said.

The character of Detective Henry is driven by his passion for helping victims and individuals in need. Similarly, in real life, Masai is passionate about discovering the truth and informing the public.

Masai mentioned that he has already been approached to feature in another series once the current one concludes. However, he is taking a cautious approach and wants to gauge people's reaction to his role in "Faithless" before committing to more acting opportunities. He is eager to see how the audience responds and if they appreciate his performance.

Depending on the feedback and audience reception, Masai expressed his openness to exploring more acting projects in the future, while still continuing his other endeavors.
