The ongoing dispute between Bahati and video vixen Brenda Otieno, known as 'Adhiambo,' has taken a new twist as Brenda now demands 20 percent of the earnings from the song.
During an interview with YouTuber Nicholas Kioko on Thursday, Brenda expressed her frustration with Bahati's failure to address her plea within the given timeframe. Consequently, she has decided to seek a higher financial settlement.
"Due to your prolonged silence, disrespect, and taking me for granted... I now demand 20 percent of the total earnings generated by that video up to this point," Brenda asserted.
"Alternatively, I demand that my appearance be removed from the song. I refuse to associate myself with the video if I am not compensated. These are my conditions, and this is where I stand," she firmly stated.
Taking her frustration to TikTok on Wednesday, Brenda publicly announced that she has been waiting for over a year to receive payment from Bahati for her role as a video vixen in his music video.
"I can't stay silent any longer. Someone inform Bahati that I am giving him 24 hours to pay me. If he fails to compensate me for my role in the Adhiambo song, I will take legal action because there are laws in place. He is taking advantage of me being a woman. The video has amassed 22 million views.
"He has never paid me to this day. If he doesn't reach out within 24 hours to discuss payment arrangements, then I will involve my lawyer. This time, I will not back down," Brenda firmly declared.
She gave Bahati a maximum of 24 hours to respond and provide an explanation of how the matter would be resolved.
However, in response to the controversy, Bahati seemed unaware of the situation and did not offer a clear indication of whether he would compensate Brenda or address the issue.
In an Instagram post on Friday, the 'Wa Nani' hitmaker acknowledged the success of the popular song "Adhiambo" and mentioned that it was released a year ago, featuring artists such as Jaguar and Babu Owino.
However, he made no direct reference to Brenda Otieno's claims or the payment matter.
Brenda reveals that this is not the first time she has come forward to demand payment for her work in the video. In the past, her voice was silenced, but this time she is prepared to take legal action against Bahati if she is not paid within the given 24-hour timeframe.
