"It's a different team [we're facing today compared to Arsenal] although there are similarities. It's now about developing our game.

"Beating Arsenal breeds confidence, but this is a different game. We want to play our game but they will want to dictate the battle.

Speaking on Sky Sports, the former united midfielder said: "They had a shocking start but in the last four games the signs have been better.

"They have good quality and to me it looks like there is a bit more spirit and fight in the team.

"The new players have settled and they have to take confidence from that.

"This is their toughest test so far, but I think they will come into it in a good place and I'm really looking forward to it.'

Some City fans are concerned after seeing that line-up. 

The last time they played without a defensive midfielder they were beaten by Chelsea in the Champions League final, losing to a goal on the break.

One thing we know United are good at is the counter-attack.

Speaking to Sky Sports, the City boss said: 'They know it. It is special for both clubs. We try to perform well, hopefully the emotion is there and we try to win."

"I think they have to try to go a little bit forward but it depends on our build up, [if it] will provoke them to defend a little bit deeper.

"If our crossing is bad, I think they will stay high because Erik, his mentality in Holland, he liked to be active in his game plan. We'll try to adapt to what they do.
